facts about cadavers
According to the orange county register in the 1800's, cadavers were illegal in England, so scientists were known to sneak the bodies of family members into labs for research. Cadavers have also been used by the U.S. Army since the 1850's to test various weapons and how they impact the human body. About 20,000 US bodies are donated to science every year. At the University of California, students are required to hold a memorial service for the cadavers they operated on during a semester of anatomy. Cadavers have flown in space to test whether humans could survive in outer space and endured car crashes. Cadavers have been used as crash-test dummies to make a case for mandatory seat belts. The research is estimated to save 8,500 lives a year. The cadavers been crucified to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. Cadavers tested France's first guillotine, which was the "humane" alternative to hanging. Plastic surgery students perform face lifts and nose jobs on human cadaver heads.

importence of cadavers
Corpses provide a precious resource for humankind. Thousands of people are on waiting lists for transplants: roughly, around 60 000 people are waiting for a transplant in the USA, 100 000 in India, 8000 in Italy1 and 5800 in the UK.2 The life of many of these people currently depends upon the recruitment of organs. Cadavers are important for the advancement of science and for medical training. Anatomy would have not developed without the study of corpses.the point of view of benefits for humankind, it could be claimed that cadavers are a public good. However, the use of cadavers is surrounded by a clash of opposing principles and arguments. Most people would probably not accept the idea that once they die the remaining body automatically becomes a public good or a public thing.
cadavers
According to Wikipedia Cadavers is another word for corpse. A cadaver is a medical term used to indicate a dead person. The cadavers had been used immediately because there was no method to keep the cadaver from starting to decay. Preservation was needed in order to teach classes and lessons on the human body.al the first main chemical used to embalming and preserving the body left a yellow stain on the human tissue. When a cadaver is buried, the corpse begins to decompose. The cadavers buried in coffin are embalmed.
Unlikely teachers: The enduring role of cadavers in educating future doctors
The use of cadavers for research has been a controversial subject, historically marred by tales of grave robbers, corrupt body donation officials and unscrupulous morticians. (Just this past Thursday funeral home employees in Rochester, New York, were indicted for illegally harvesting body parts from the deceased in their care.) The methods for acquiring cadavers for medical study have become markedly more transparent over the years. This four part series will explore the role of cadavers in modern medicine through several lenses: the anatomy classroom, the donation process, the awareness and current debate surrounding organ donation, and the stances taken by major religions on the practice of donating your body to science. Most medical students and professionals believe that studying anatomy on the real thing is essential. Some students feel that naming the cadaver personalizes the experience. “Their argument is that this is a person, he should have a name. During the months students spend studying anatomy, and they dissect the chest, followed by the back, abdomen, pelvis, and arms and legs, before concluding the term with the head and neck. While dissecting the chest and abdomen students display the organs, but most are not dissected beyond this, with the exception of the heart. By examining the heart’s chambers students are able to better understand the structure and functions.
Cadavers honored in med student dissection lab
According to the recent article I read indicated that when medical students have finished their study and practice on cadavers, they often hold a respectful memorial service to honor these bodies donated to science. The ceremonies at one medical school have a surreal twist, Relatives gather around the cold steel tables where their loved ones were dissected and which now hold their remains beneath metal covers. The tables are topped with white or burgundy-colored shrouds, flags for military veterans, flowers and candles. medical students join the families in the lab and read letters of appreciation about the donors, a clergy member offers prayers, and tears are shed. At other medical schools, donated bodies remain anonymous and students never meet the families. The education these donated bodies have provided is invaluable. They look at it as a celebration of the lives of those individuals and the gift that they have given to us
History on Body Snachers and Cdaversa
According to diesmart Medical schools have been using cadavers for more than 200 years. Anatomy schools began to steal bodies from graves, but stealing a dead body was not a crime. Some anatomy instructors encouraged this “body snatching”. Students sometimes paid tuition in corpses or dug up bodies as late night pranks. Anatomists would even dissect members of their own family. William Harvey, the man famous for discovering the circulatory system, was so dedicated that he dissected members of his own family. By 1828 anatomists were paying others to do the digging. At that time, London anatomy schools employ ten full time body snatchers and about two hundred part time workers during the dissection season. A crew of six or seven could dig up about 312 bodies. There is an ongoing demand for cadavers for medical research and training. The cadavers used by medical institutions come from people like you and me who decide to donate their whole body for medical research when they die.
Learning from the dead
Cadavers have been used for over 2 thousand years. The cadavers have been involved in science's greatest accomplishments, especially in the medical field. Herophilus is known as the father of anatomy because he was the first to record the dissection of a human body. he was the reason that the use of cadavers led to a rapid improvement in the anatomical and physiological knowledge of the human body, and the altered course of the medical pursuit throughout the world. Until the 18 and 19 centuries, criminals were the main source of cadavers in the medical schools in England and Scotland because people rarely donated their bodies for research. So when the number of executions decreased, it became more common to remove corpses from their graves. Due to the anatomical Act of 1832, that stipulated that only "teachers" were allowed legal access to corpses. That means that medical schools were granted access to the unclaimed bodies. By the end of the 19 century preserving dead bodies became more advanced. That led to the reduction in medical cadaver turnover, as students and researchers were no longer in the race against decomposition.

Why I became intrested
The topic that I chose was to research is the use of cadavers throughout history. The reason that I chose this subject is because I am very interested in the ways that the cadavers would be used for medical reasons, and etc. what I found interesting is the ways that the medical, students, and EMT people would determine the cause of death which varied from many causes. I feel if I can find out the history of cadavers it will help me later in my future job. cadavers have been used throughout history in the medical field.
